Princess Sirivannavari has been conferred the French Légion d’honneur in Paris.

Princess Sirivannavari has been conferred as a Grand Officier of the Légion d’honneur of the French Republic by President Emmanuel Macron. The honour was presented this week by the Minister of Culture, Mrs Catherine Pégard, in Paris.

During the presentation ceremony, the Minister of Culture delivered remarks extolling the Princess’s work, honouring her ‘esteemed role as an individual with exceptional ability’ and ‘dedication through her valuable missions’ that have contributed and promoted French culture and art, as well as the enduring friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the French Republic.

Her Royal Highness graciously replied, underscoring her appreciation for French hospitality, arts and culture, particularly in the textile industry and design, which are highly relevant to the Princess’s work and passions. The Princess spoke of the value, beauty and unique cultural identity of France, linking it to the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of fine arts, the advancement of culture, and the development of creative industries in Thailand, all of which she has always prioritised.

Princess Sirivannavari also serves as Royal Patron for the “La Mode en Majesté” exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The unique exhibition — organised by the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles — showcases the evolution of clothing at the Thai Royal Court, featuring more than 100 pieces from the Royal Collection, including garments and accessories. The exhibition highlights the Royal Wardrobes, showcasing eight traditional Thai costume designs created by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in collaboration with a team of historians and local Thai designers.

The exhibition emphasises the unique history of cultural and artistic dialogue, marked by over thirty years of collaboration between the late Queen Sirikit and fashion designer Pierre Balmain, which was later continued by the Balmain and Lesage Houses. The showing also coincides with the 170th and 340th anniversaries of Diplomatic Relations between France and Thailand (formerly the Kingdom of Siam). The exhibition remains open to the public until 1 November, 2026.
