King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium have been forced to postpone their departure to Chile for 24 hours following technical difficulties with the plane.

The plane had been scheduled to depart early this morning, but will now leave on Monday at the earliest. The plane was not a government plane but rather a leased one from Hi Fly Airlines from Portugal.

The program in Chile will be reduced from 4 days to 3 days.

According to the official website of the Belgian Monarchy, the visit was supposed to include “various diplomatic, economic, cultural, scientific and social visits and activities in Santiago de Chile and Antofagasta.”
