Queen Suthida is in Italy this week, attending the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Bureau of the Royal Household announced earlier this week that Queen Suthida of Thailand would travel to Italy to attend the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in her capacity as IIHF Global Ambassador. The royal visit comes at the invitation of the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Mr Luc Tardif.
In 2023, the IIHF invited the Queen to be the first Ambassador for Women’s Ice Hockey in recognition of Her Majesty’s support for and personal participation in the sport of ice hockey.
Queen Suthida landed at Milan’s Malpensa International Airport this Wednesday, 18th February, around 7 am. The Queen was greeted by Italian and Thai officials, including the Thai Ambassadors to Rome and Italy respectively. The Queen then travelled to the Palace Hotel in Como, also being greeted by various officials.
Later in the day, Queen Suthida attended a luncheon at the Altariva, a restaurant at the Palazzo Venezia Hotel, in Como. The luncheon was hosted by the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Mr Luc Tardif.
