Princess Aiko of Japan has started her first day of work at the Japanese Red Cross Society.

She joined the Japanese Red Cross Society as a contracted employee and will work in a department focused on training volunteers. This will be part-time as she combines it with her official duties.

She told reporters at the Red Cross headquarters, “I feel joyful, but also humbled to be taking my first step as a working member of society. While my days as a working member of society have just begun, I will endeavour to adjust quickly to the workplace and be of assistance.”

Princess Aiko is one of eight new employees who start their jobs today.
