The King and Queen of Bhutan have received their Thai counterparts for a state visit.
As a special gesture, they met King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida at Paro International Airport.
Groups of schoolchildren lined the route from the airport to welcome the Thai King and Queen and several culteral performances were held along the route.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida were formally received at Tashichhodzong, where they were presented with a Guard of Honour from the armed forces. They then had an audience with the King and Queen of Bhutan.
The King’s father, the fourth Druk Gyalpo, and other members of the Bhutanese royal family joined the program for a warm welcome. The state visit is set to last for four days.
This is the first state visit for the King of Thailand, who succeeded his father in 2016.
