The Royal Court of Norway has made an exciting announcement for this summer regarding the next in line to the Norwegian throne.

Crown Prince Haakon is scheduled for an official visit to Japan from the 2nd to the 4th of June, 2026. The Royal Court added that the programme for the visit is under preparation and further information will be released at a later date.

The Prince will most certainly be received by Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, as is customary for visiting royals. Foreign guests are treated to a dinner by the Emperor, sometimes joined by Empress Masako and Princess Aiko, during an evening of their stay.

Haakon may also be received by Crown Prince Akishino (Fumihito) on the Akasaka Palace Estate—the official residence of the Crown Prince Family of Japan.

The Royal News Organisation will keep you up to date with all the future announcements regarding the official visit this summer.
