Copies of Earl Spencer’s upcoming book on his late sister, Diana, Princess of Wales, have been stolen in the Netherlands.
Four copies of Swan Song: Diana, My Sister by Charles Spencer were stolen from a lorry in the Netherlands earlier this week. The memoir is set to be published on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
According to the Daily Mail, a truck with thousands of copies was parked overnight on its way to a distribution warehouse. The driver parked the vehicle to sleep, and when he woke up, he discovered the break-in.
Fortunately, only four books were taken, and Dutch police are reportedly investigating.
The book is set to reveal information on Diana’s relationship with the now King Charles and the crisis that engulfed the Royal Family following her 1997 death in a Paris car crash.
In a press release announcing the book, Charles Spencer said, “The aim of this book is to tell the truth about Diana from her brother’s perspective, just as I attempted to do when speaking at her funeral.
“As with my eulogy, I want to speak on Diana’s behalf and do so in an openly positive way.”
He chose to write the book after receiving a tremendous number of interview requests ahead of the 30th anniversary (2027) of her untimely death.
The Earl said, “This has convinced me to write down my own thoughts and memories, once and for all, rather than having the discomfort of again reading the opinions of others, many of which are based on untruths that have become accepted over time.”
Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is being published by Penguin Press in the United States. It is set to be translated into 12 languages.
