King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Lidköping.
Their visit to Läckö Castle and Lidköping marked the 300th anniversary of Rörstrand.
Rörstrand is Sweden’s oldest porcelain factory. It was founded in Stockholm in 1726 and moved to Gothenburg in 1926. During the 1930s, the factory moved to Lidköping.
The visit of the King and Queen began at Läckö Castle, where they saw the exhibition “Rörstrand 300 years – treasures from the National Museum’s collections.” The exhibition showcases porcelain and ceramics from the entire period the factory was active.
After a lunch at Läckö Wärdshus, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Framnäs Strandpark in Lidköping. This park was completed in 2025 and received the Landmark Architecture Prize. They were shown a new sculpture called “Hold” and spoke with representatives from Lidköping’s youth council.
They ended the day at the Rörstrand Museum, where the royal couple viewed the anniversary exhibition “Rörstrand 300 years.” To commemorate the day, the King and Queen planted a pear tree of the “Rörstrandspäron” variety outside the old factory.
