King Willem-Alexander hands out Formula 1 prize

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands was present at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands in Zandvoort to hand out the prize to the winner.

The King attended alongside his wife, Queen Máxima, and his middle daughter, Princess Alexia. This year is the sixth and last time this particular track will be used.

He told Viaplay while walking onto the grid, “Incredibly grateful that we have been able to have Formula 1. We have shown ourselves to the world in an incredible way. It is not just a race, but a big celebration for everyone, truly a massive festival. We have really shown that Formula 1 can be more than just a race; it warms my heart.”

King Willem-Alexander commented to De Telegraaf, “This is such a great event. We shouldn’t start thinking negatively now, but rather be positive. We should all be grateful that we have been able to enjoy six editions here. I have a warm affection for the entire Formula 1.”

Lando Norris won the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, and King Willem-Alexander said after handing out the prize, “A winner with whom I could speak in Dutch. His mother is Belgian, and he speaks good Dutch.”
