Queen Camilla backs new journalism awards initiative

Queen Camilla is backing a new journalism awards initiative.

The Queen Camilla Future of Journalism Awards are supported by the Journalists’ Charity, of which Queen Camilla is the patron. The Journalists’ Charity was founded in 1864 by Charles Dickens, and it received a Royal Charter in 1890 from Queen Victoria.

The awards are now open for applications, and recipients can receive financial assistance and guidance. Applications can be made throughout August, and winners will be notified in September.

They will be awarded to 25 journalists aged 18 to 30 every year. The winners will also be invited to join a ceremony with industry leaders to recognise their commitment to journalism and potential.

Announcing the launch of the charity’s new flagship initiative, the Chief Executive of the Journalists’ Charity, James Brindle, said, “We’re deeply honoured that as our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen is backing the charity’s efforts to support new talent at a time when journalism has never been more important. It’s a privilege to launch this groundbreaking new awards scheme which is set to unlock opportunities for many younger journalists nationwide. The awards will make a real difference every year, giving the stars of the future the tools they need to take their career to the next level.”
