Prince William shares message of support for fire victims

The Prince of Wales has shared a supportive message with those affected by the fires in France, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the heir to the British throne wrote a personal message, denoted by the ‘W’ at the end of the tweet.

The Prince shared a word of thanks for the emergency responders and reminded everyone that the fires are a side effect of climate change.

He wrote, in full, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires across France, Spain and the UK. We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, emergency services and volunteers working tirelessly in extraordinarily difficult conditions. These events are a stark reminder of the challenges posed by an increasingly extreme climate and the importance of protecting both people and nature.”

Prince William has been a passionate advocate for the environment, following in his father’s footsteps, for many years. He also founded the Earthshot Prize, a global environmental award honouring those who help restore the land and stop carbon emissions.

Over 300,000 people have been evacuated from both France and Spain due to large fires outside Madrid and communities around Bordeaux, France. Exhausted firefighters continue to battle the infernos with no rain in the forecast and temperatures expected to increase this week.
