Princess Madeleine of Sweden visited her new patronage this week on the island of Lovön.
Princess Madeleine was in Ekerö to visit the Hippocampus Foundation’s operations on the island.
She was given a tour of the premises and saw how they use horses for therapeutic, learning and health-promoting efforts for young people with neuropsychiatric, motor or intellectual difficulties. The royal also spoke to the foundation’s Director of Operations, Pia Tillberg, during her visit.
A former equestrian, the Princess toured the stables and riding hall before meeting children in the outdoor paddock. She heard about their favourite horses and how Hippocampus is helping them.
She also shared photos and a message on her personal Instagram after her visit: “I am a proud patron of the Hippocampus Foundation, where children and young people in vulnerable life situations receive support through horse-assisted interventions where the interaction with the horse has an incredibly positive impact. Warm thanks for a wonderful visit!”
The Princess became patron of the organisation this year.
