Prince Eugenie’s anti-slavery charity is under scrutiny from the Charity Commission.

The Charity Commission has opened a case into the Anti-Slavery Collective, citing concerns over its spending. The Commission had already confirmed it was “assessing concerns” earlier this year. Princess Eugenie co-founded the charity in 2017.

On Wednesday, a Charity Commission spokesperson told BBC News: “We have opened a regulatory compliance case into Anti-Slavery Collective to continue assessing concerns raised with us about charitable spending.”

BBC News reported in October that the previous financial years showed that the Anti-Slavery Collective had raised £1.5m, but £1.3m had been carried forward, leaving very little for distribution. Most of that money had been raised at a gala held in London in 2023.

Princess Eugenie has already stepped down as patron of a separate charity, Anti-Slavery International. No reasons were given for her stepping down.
