King Felipe paid a visit to the Navy’s Aircraft Flotilla, Survival Centre, and Internal Security Training Centre.

Upon his arrival, King Felipe received military honours. He was greeted by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Antonio Piñeiro Sánchez, and the Fleet Admiral, José Enrique Delgado Roig.

King Felipe toured the outdoor platform, where the unit’s squadron equipment was on display. He learned about the capabilities of the NH-90 MSPT, the H-135, and the SH-90 helicopters.

The King received a safety briefing before he joined the flight team on a familiarisation flight of the NH90.

Following the flight, the King visited the Navy Survival Centre, where the head of CESUPAR received him, Lieutenant Commander Israel Felipe Abad, and the director of SAMU-CESUPAR, Julio Serrano Carranza. He received a demonstration of naval rescue in adverse conditions.

Afterwards, he visited the Internal Security Training Centre (CASI) at the Rota Naval Base. This centre is dedicated to training the crews of Fleet ships. King Felipe was greeted by Captain Rafael Samaniego Martín Francisco, commander of the Combat Evaluation and Certification Centre, and Commander Juan José Redondo Tomás, head of the centre.

At the end of the visit, King Felipe went to the Officers’ Room of the Air Fleet for a social event.
