King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the José María de Llanos Foundation, which runs the Southern Hospitality School.
The King and Queen visited the headquarters of the José María de Llanos Foundation. The foundation was founded in 1961 by Father Llanos and became a dedicated vocational training school. It has been a hospitality school since 2001 and is dedicated to training restaurant professionals.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia were received by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre; the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; and the President of the Board of Trustees of the José María de Llanos Foundation, Juan de Dios Morán.

They toured the centre, visiting the art therapy room, the digital literacy classroom and the gym.
At the foundation hall, they met several guest chefs, including Salvador Gallego, Pedro Olmedo, Pedro Larumbe, Alberto Gómez Letón, Cristina Freitas, Mario del Río, Rebeca Hernández, Nuria Soto, Salvador Gallego Antolínez, Juan Antonio Medina and Adrián Pérez, as well as the maîtres and sommeliers. Here, they also signed the Book of Honour and posed for a group in the courtyard.
Afterwards, they visited the school kitchen, where students were preparing lunch. To celebrate the foundation’s 25th anniversary, they paid tribute to chef Salvador Gallego, a leading figure in Spanish gastronomy. During the lunch, the King and the President of the Board of Trustees of the José María de Llanos Foundation addressed the attendees.
