Princess Eléonore celebrates 18th birthday

Princess Eléonore of Belgium celebrates her 18th birthday today. Let’s take a look at her life so far.

Princess Eléonore was born on 16 April 2008 as the youngest daughter of the future King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium. She is currently fourth in the Belgian line of succession, behind her elder siblings: the Duchess of Brabant, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Emmanuel.

Her baptism took place on 14 June 2008 at Ciergon Castle. Her godparents are  Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Claire of Belgium, and Count Sébastien von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg.

The Princess started her education at St John Berchmans College in Brussels. She transferred to the Dutch-language Heilig Hart College in 2020. As of September 2023, she attends the International School of Brussels. She speaks Dutch, French and English.

She plays the violin and practices skiing, sailing and tennis.

In her free time, Princess Eléonore regularly does volunteer work. During the COVID pandemic, she volunteered at a hotline for isolated elderly people. She has also been involved with the scouts for several years.
