Several of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s patronages are holding discussions on her position there.

News organisation VG reported that several patronages are considering whether they want to keep Crown Princess Mette-Marit as their protector. She currently holds patronage of 22 Norwegian organisations.

The foundation behind the “Skamløsprisen”, Sex and Society, is holding an emergency meeting today. They told VG, “We are considering the matter and will make a statement during the day.”

Acting Secretary General Asle Bjorvatn of Church SOS told VG, “It is natural that our national government will discuss the matter at its next meeting on March 9. Beyond that, we have no comments.”

Andreas Bjørnstad, director of communications and society at the Red Cross, told VG, “This is a serious matter. It is important to clearly distance ourselves from the abuses for which Jeffrey Epstein was convicted. Children and young people should be able to trust that society has zero tolerance for sexual abuse.”

Several others also commented to VG that they are going to be discussing it.

The Crown Princess admitted to contact with Jeffrey Epstein and stated that she had shown poor judgment. The contact may be closer than previously believed with the release of new files.
