Amidst the international uproar over the United States’ desire to take over Greenland, King Frederik will visit the Danish territory.

His Majesty will visit from 18 to 20 February 2026.

The King will arrive in the Greenlandic capital of Nuuk on 18 February.

Additional details will be released in due course.

This will not be the King’s first visit to Greenland as monarch. He previously visited the Arctic island in April 2025.

The trip will, however, be strategic as US President Donald Trump has insisted that the United States should take over the island from Denmark. He has ruled out using military force but has claimed the island is needed for American national security.

Most in Greenland have said they do not want to become part of the United States and want to remain as part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

During the Danish state visit to Lithuania, King Frederik commented on the ongoing issue on behalf of himself and Queen Mary, “We deeply sympathise with the Greenlandic people, and what has happened in Greenland in recent weeks has deeply affected us. We’ve noticed in the media that the Greenlandic people have been very concerned. This concerns us both.”
