Queen Rania of Jordan hosted women from Al Mafraq for lunch in the rural area of Umm Al-Jimal.
The Queen invited over 100 women active in social, cultural, and educational work in Al Mafraq in the historic area.
Her Majesty took the opportunity to thank the women for what they do and encourage face-to-face communication while technology continues to grow.
She said, “People nowadays prefer getting in touch, sharing their news, and consoling each other via modern-day communication tools.”
Queen Rania praised the women for their accomplishments and shared her hope that she would see them all again.

The Queen also took time to remark on the charm of the historic area of Umm Al-Jimal, saying it shows that “a person’s mark on the world is not confined by place or time, but endures as a legacy passed down through generations.”
She later shared on social media about her lunch, “A wonderful time spent with the women of Al Mafraq in Umm Al-Jimal today — your warmth and kindness made it all the more memorable! Thank you for your gracious welcome.”
Umm Al-Jimal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024.
