King Charles strips Andrew of all titles

King Charles has stripped Prince Andrew of all his titles, styles and honours due to his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, it was revealed that the King has begun the process to remove Andrew’s titles.

He will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Andrew will also move out of the Royal Lodge, where he has lived for many years.

The King and Queen have also expressed their support for victims and survivors of abuse.

The full Buckingham Palace statement is below:

His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.

Earlier this month, Andrew announced that he would no longer use his Duke of York title and continued to deny the accusations against him.

Andrew stepped back as a working member of the Royal Family in 2019 due to his friendship with the late American financier.

A new book released posthumously by Andrew’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre, has detailed further information regarding her relationship with the Prince. The former prince has always denied all accusations of wrongdoing.
