The Princess of Orange has begun her training at Defensity College in Amsterdam.

Princess Amalia, 21, began her training on 30 September, and her father, King Willem-Alexander, appointed her to military roles.

The King appointed his eldest daughter as a reserve personnel of the Dutch Armed Forces.

She holds the rank of third-class sailor in the Royal Navy and of third-class soldier in the Royal Netherlands Army and the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

The heir to the throne will undertake classes and training sessions while studying as a working student with the Defence Staff.

Due to the broken arm she suffered earlier this year, some of her training will be delayed. “The General Military Training component has been postponed until she has fully recovered from her broken arm. Upon completion of the General Military Training, she will be promoted to corporal,” the Government Information Service said.

The Royal House continued to stress that the Princess’s time in school is considered private and that she is not receiving any money for her royal duties.
