The King and Queen of Bhutan began their state visit to Vietnam on a rainy Tuesday.
Their Majesties visited the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and the Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum.
At the mausoleum, they were able to pay tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh, modern Vietnam’s founder, and the country’s war heroes and martyrs.

An official welcome ceremony then took place, where President Lương Cường and First Lady Nguyễn Thị Minh Nguyệt welcomed the King and Queen to the Presidential Palace.
King Jigme Khesar then held a meeting with the President before two Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the two countries regarding aviation cooperation. His Majesty later spoke with members of the government.

Queen Jetsun Pema and the First Lady visited the oldest Buddhist temple in Hà Nội, Trấn Quốc Pagoda. They offered incense and prayers at the temple.
In the evening, the King and Queen attended the state banquet hosted by the presidential couple.

The King and Queen of Bhutan will undertake a state visit to Vietnam from August 18-22.
