Queen Rania of Jordan has visited development programs by local youth and women in Wadi Musa.

She met with Yousef Al Falahat, the founder of Thakafat, an initiative that creates financial empowerment opportunities. The majority of the projects there are led by women and allow tourists to learn more about the area and the people.

Anmar Al Jbour, a member of Thakafat’s team, spoke to Queen Rania about the inspiration behind the initiative. The Queen then stopped by Esraa Kitchen, a Thakafat project that introduces tourists to Jordanian cuisine and allows them to sample the local food. They have welcomed over 4,200 visitors from 32 countries so far.
