Queen Rania and Princess Salma of Jordan visited Wadi Rum in Aqaba on 8 January.
The Queen and her younger daughter visited Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, to see the experiences tourists can have and meet tour guides at the desert site.

The mother-daughter duo first travelled in an authentic recreation of an Ottoman-era Hijaz Railway steam train that is operated by the Jordan Heritage Revival Company (JHRC). The train ride is an immersive historical experience that reenacts a battle from the Great Arab Revolt.
They then joined a bonfire discussion about the historic site.
Queen Rania later wrote on her Instagram, “Call me biased, but I simply cannot imagine a more breathtaking spot on Earth. A must-see, and just a short drive away from our stunning Petra.”

Wadi Rum is a UNESCO Heritage Site and a protected area of Jordan. It has vast sandstone landscapes, red-gold dunes, hiking and rock-climbing routes, and authentic Bedouin cultural experiences. It is located roughly an hour from Aqaba and two hours from the ancient city of Petra.
The JHRC was founded in 2010 and “aims to contribute to the development of the local tourism sector by bringing Jordanian history to life through authentic, engaging, and entertaining experiences,” according to Her Majesty’s office.
