The Swedish Queen and Crown Princess have met war-injured children from Ukraine in the Royal Palace.

Several children injured in the war in Ukraine visited the Royal Palace on 4 June.

Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria welcomed the children, aged between nine and 17, while they spent a few weeks in Sweden to recover.

Silvia and Victoria were seen talking with the children and taking photos in the Hall of Mirrors. “Tobbe Trollkarl” from Min Stora Dag performed magic while the guests snacked on strawberry pastries.

The day at the palace was organised by Astrid Lindgren’s Children’s Hospital at Karolinska University Hospital, Min Stora Dag (My Big Day) and the Emergency Preparedness Lift.

The Information Manager at the Royal Court, Margareta Thorgen, told Svenskdam that the meeting was special for the Queen and Crown Princess, “It was a nice meeting with war-affected children from Ukraine.”

The Royal Court later shared a group photo on social media from the day at the palace.

The event was not announced in the Royal Calendar ahead of time. The reason is unknown.
