Princess Margriet of the Netherlands has been taken to the hospital after she fell on an ice rink.
The 82-year-old aunt of King Willem-Alexander was attending and participating in a sporting event called De Hollandse 100. She was doing one of the last rounds of skating when she fell. Her son, Prince Bernhard, was quickly by his mother’s side.
She was “responsive”, according to a spokesperson for the organisation.
De Hollandse 100 is an event which raises money for research into lymphatic cancer. Her son is the chairman of the Lymph&Co foundation, which organised the event. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013.
