Princess Madeleine presents Childhood Prize

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has presented the 2025 Childhood Prize on 2 December.

The Princess presented the award that recognises those who protect children through their work.

This year’s prize was awarded to Elin Nelly, an analyst at the National Operative Department of the Swedish Police (NOA).

Princess Madeleine praised Nelly, stating, “Your genuine commitment to the rights of all children is not only noticeable – it is contagious. You have a unique ability to always put the issue of children’s vulnerability at the centre.

“By making complex situations understandable and manageable, you bring others along. With sharp analysis, curiosity, optimism and an impressive tenacity, you search and dig further to create new ways that drive work forward.

“By initiating global collaborations, you have established Sweden’s role internationally and actively contributed to protecting children far beyond national borders. You are the spider in the web that never gives up.”

The other finalists were Chamber Prosecutor Jessica Wenna at the Västerås Prosecutor’s Office and operations developer Jörgen Skarin at the regional IT crime centre.

The winner won prize money of 50,000 Swedish kronor.

Princess Madeleine is a passionate advocate for children’s rights and takes part in many Childhood events across the globe. She is the honorary vice-chair of Childhood and serves on the Childhood Prize jury.

The World Childhood Foundation was founded by Queen Silvia in 1999.
