Spain’s Princess Leonor has been named an Adopted Daughter of the city of Marín.

The Mayor of Marín, María Pilar Ramallo, presented the Princess of Asturias with the City Council’s baton of office before Leonor met the Municipal Corporation.

Once inside the Plenary Hall, the mayor read the agreement making the royal an adopted daughter of the city. Then, Leonor was presented with a parchment and a medal in a case indicating her new honour. She later signed the Golden Book of Marín in the Town Hall and took a photo with the Municipal Council.

While in Marín, Her Royal Highness was presented with the Gold Medal of Galicia 2025 by the Xunta de Galicia to recognise her training at the naval school. She was given the honour as a sign of “affection and respect of the Galician people,” according to Casa Real.

The town in Pontevedra is the headquarters of the naval school that Leonor is currently attending. The award helps to strengthen the ties between the Royal Family and Marín.

Princess Leonor’s father, King Felipe, was made an Adopted Son of Marín in 1986 while he was also undergoing his naval training.
