Princess Isabella of Denmark has participated in the traditional REX tour.
According to the official website of the Danish Armed Forces, “The REX tour is the final test that conscripts must go through before they can call themselves guards. It is a week of minimal sleep, where the body is pushed to the limit.”
She joined other conscripts from the barracks in Slagelse as they undertook the gruelling tour in Southern Jutland. The tour took several days. Her older brother also trained in the same location. She is one of the first teenagers to take part in Denmark’s new mandatory 11-month military service.
Once the conscripts were back in the barracks, they received the REX badge with King Frederik’s monogram.

Princess Isabella is currently three months into her 11-month-long military service. Last month, she was visited by her family, who met Isabella’s fellow recruits and learned more about her day-to-day life.
The King, who inspected the troops, also wore his military uniform to visit his daughter, and the Royal Court released a photo of the father-daughter duo in their uniforms.
The images also revealed that Isabella’s last name on her uniform is ‘Fredensborg.’ It is a tradition in Denmark that recruits go by the name of their town; Isabella spent a lot of her life in Fredensborg on the island of Zealand at Fredensborg Palace. The Princess refused the salary and allowances from the Danish military.
