Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette of Orange-Nassau have announced that they are divorcing.
Prince Bernhard, a son of Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and a cousin of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, and Princess Annette have been married just over 25 years.
The announcement for the Government Information Service states:
After 25 years of marriage, we have decided to divorce. We are doing this by mutual agreement and with mutual respect. We will continue to care for our three children together. Despite this, it remains a difficult step. We therefore ask for everyone’s understanding and respect for our privacy.
