Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway have begun their county tour of Hallingdal in Buskerud.
The Crown Prince Couple are visiting the area to focus on the youth, traditions and culture.
The visit began on Tuesday, 23 September, with the royals travelling to Gol and Hemsedal.
They saw folk traditions, music, and dance through performances in Hallingdal before making their way to Gol.
Their Royal Highnesses then met with representatives of the youth and got a tour of the outdoor area that the young people created. Crown Prince Haakon even joined in a basketball game on the outdoor courts.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit also delivered remarks during their trip to the municipality of Gol, stressing the importance of making sure people feel included.
“No matter where we live, we can help create good meeting places for each other. Ensure that everyone feels at home and that they belong. Together, we can create something that is bigger than each of us. You can do that here at Gol,” she said.

The first day also included meeting those who use the UngInvest Hallingdal program, which the couple opened in 2019. According to the Royal Court, “UngInvest AIB is a county-run, practice-oriented, strengths-based learning program for young people aged 16-24.”
Their Royal Highnesses concluded their day by seeing traditional crafts and visiting Hemsedal Primary and Secondary School.
The tour is taking place ahead of the Crown Princess’s sick leave for treatment of her chronic pulmonary fibrosis next month. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2018.
