Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, requested to be released from custody.
He was remanded for four weeks in early February amidst fears that he would reoffend. He was arrested just before the start of the trial against him. He is being prosecuted for 38 offences, including four rapes, abuse in close relationships, sexually offensive behaviour, and serious drug offences.
The prosecutor commented, “We have considered this and have decided not to release him on our own initiative. This will therefore be forwarded to the Oslo District Court for further consideration. It has only been a short time since the District Court considered the detention of Høiby and concluded that the basis for detention was present, police lawyer Andreas Kruszewski tells the newspaper.”
The trial against Marius Borg Høiby is set to last until March 18, but it is not yet known when a verdict will be delivered.
