This year, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrates 50 years on the throne.
To get the jubilee year off to a good start, the Swedish court has released a new portrait of the king. The photo was taken in the same place where the enthronement ceremony took place. A silver throne can be seen next to the king. This was given to Queen Kristina in 1650.
The king wears the uniform of an admiral and several orders of knighthood.
