Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has paid a touching tribute to her godfather, King Harald, after his death at the age of 89.

The Swedish Royal Court released a statement from Victoria, in which she calls the “Uncle Harald” a role model.

Her full statement is below:

King Harald was a much-loved Godfather – always welcoming and warm. He had a ready laugh and a twinkle in his eye.

“An unusually nice person. A role model.

“Some people leave an impression that time never erases. King Harald is one such person. With his warmth and presence, he had a rare ability to see people.

“Uncle Harald, you will forever remain in the hearts of all of us who loved you!

“These days, my thoughts and those of Prince Daniel go to Norway and its people. We send our warmest condolences to Queen Sonja, King Haakon and Queen Mette-Marit, and the entire Norwegian Royal Family.”

Crown Princess Victoria is the godmother to Norway’s new Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra and will no doubt provide much-needed comfort and support during this difficult time.
