Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway joined forces to open a Swedish-Norwegian police station on the border.

The police station is located between the municipalities of Eda and Eidskog and is unique in its kind. The border runs through the building it is marked with a painted line. The purpose of the new police station is to strengthen cooperation against cross-border crime, with a focus on organised crime, drugs, weapons and vehicle theft. Swedish and Norwegian police officers will work together.

The two heirs inaugurated the building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. They were then given a tour around the facilities and were given a drone demonstration.

Near the border crossing, there is a peace monument from 1914 marking 100 years op peace between Norway and Sweden. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess met with representatives from the municipalities of Eda and Eidskog at the monument. They also visited two Swedish-Norwegian families in the area.
