Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has cancelled her planned trip to Germany due to her health.

The Norwegian Royal Court announced that the royal would be unable to attend due to her worsening health condition caused by chronic pulmonary fibrosis.

The royal is now on sick leave for at least two weeks.

She was due to visit the city of Leipzig for the International Book Fair that is taking place at the end of the month.

The Crown Princess is a passionate reader and regularly attends events to promote literature.

The Royal Court also reiterated their announcement from 6 March: “The Crown Princess needs more rest, and her daily routine is changing more quickly than before. This means that changes to her official schedule may occur more frequently, and at shorter notice than we are used to.”
