Crown Prince Haakon and Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway have helped row a Viking ship.

The Myklebust ship is the largest Viking ship ever found in Norway. In 1874, it was found in a burial mound at Nordfjordeid.

Crown Prince Haakon and Prince Sverre Magnus started their visit at Sagastad. This Viking Age knowledge centre opened in 2019 and shares information about the Myklebust. The father and son duo received a briefing from Synnøve Aabrekk, general manager of Sagastad, and learned that the local population helped build a full-scale reconstruction of the ship.

They then continued their visit to the Rundehågjen burial mound. Here, they met Geir Holmen, head of culture in the Stad municipality, and Marita Melheim Myklebust, the landowner, and spoke about the excavation and their efforts to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Skipper Rolf Nore and mate Harald Ola Kolseth headed the team of 44 rowers as the Myklebust was rowed to the fjord. The Crown Prince and Prince Sverre Magnus also stood at the helm for a while.
