Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has signed the declaration of her abdication during the Council of State at Christiansborg Palace.
Her son Frederik has now become King Frederik X of Denmark, and his wife has become Queen Mary. Their eldest son, Christian, is now the Crown Prince.
The new King and Queen will now host a levee for invited guests. Queen Margrethe will return home, and at 3 p.m., the new King will officially be proclaimed on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace.
