Queen Camilla and children decorate Christmas tree

Queen Camilla invited children to decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House, as she does each year.

Children, including those with life-threatening illnesses, from the Helen & Douglas House in Oxfordshire and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, helped decorate the tree on 11 December.

As the ten children arrived, the Queen said, “Christmas has started!”

The youth presented Queen Camilla with gifts and hung ornaments on the tree. They also joined her for photos with Santa in a sleigh.

The historic sleigh was designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in the 1800s.

King Charles and Queen Camilla put the artefact on display during the German state visit to the UK last week, which was fitting as Prince Albert was German.

The Queen and children also fed reindeer, including Santa’s Dancer.

The yearly event is one of the most looked-forward-to events on the royal calendar each year. Camilla started the tradition while she was the Duchess of Cornwall and has kept the tradition since Charles ascended the throne.
