Promotion for Sir Timothy Laurence

It’s a promotion for Sir Timothy Laurence.

King Charles has promoted Sir Timothy Laurence, the husband of his sister Princess Anne, to be a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

The appointment was made on 21 August.

Laurence was made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order in August 1989 by the late Queen Elizabeth II. At the time, he served as an equerry to Her Late Majesty.

The late monarch later promoted him to Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2011.

Sir Timothy Laurence is the husband of the Princess Royal, King Charles’s younger sister. They have been married since 1992.

The Royal Victorian Order was established by Queen Victoria in 1896 to recognise special service to the monarch, Royal Family, or senior representative of the monarch.

While King Charles is the current sovereign over the order, the Princess Royal serves as the grand master.
