The Princess Royal visited the Jodrell Bank Observatory and Reasehealth Equestrian College.

Her first stop was the Jodrell Bank Observatory, which has become the first research Observatory to receive UNESCO status. Princess Anne met with the staff and was also given a chance to operate the Lovell Telescope.

She planted a sapling tree at the observatory, the pip of which came from the apple tree of Sir Isaan Newton’s gardens. This tree was said to have inspired the Theory of Gravity.

She then travelled to Cheshire, where she opened Riding for the Disabled’s (RDA) new facilities at Reaseheath Equestrian College. She was given a tour of the new facilities and met young riders.

Princess Anne is the president of the RDA, a charity that provides fun activities for over 17,000 disabled children and adults.
