Another historic first for Queen Suthida as Her Majesty is appointed as the Global Ambassador for Clean Sport.

Queen Suthida has made global headlines this autumn after conquering the cockpit of a Saab JAS 39C Gripen fighter jet—the first Queen to do so—and winning the hearts and affection of the Japanese people at the IIHF’s Women’s Asia Championship in Hokkaido. This week, the Queen has added yet another accolade to her ever-growing list of accomplishments.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was “pleased to announce” that Queen Suthida has been named as the first Global Ambassador for Clean Sport. During an audience granted by King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall of Dusit Palace, a private event was held to mark the Queen’s historic appointment, attended by WADA President Witold Bańka and WADA Vice-President Yang Yang.

WADA notes that, in this honorary role, Her Majesty will lend her international standing, visibility, and influence to promote the values of clean sport and inspire audiences worldwide. The Queen will attend selected sporting and other events, as mutually agreed, and engage with athletes and other key stakeholders to promote integrity, fairness, and clean sport.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), established in 1999, is a non-profit organisation headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Its core mission is to foster global collaboration toward a doping-free sporting environment, grounded in the principles of partnership and equitable participation between the sporting community and governments worldwide. WADA’s mandate includes developing anti-doping standards, supporting research and education, promoting awareness, conducting monitoring and investigations, accrediting laboratories, and overseeing and evaluating compliance with international anti-doping standards and regulations.
