Princess Kako of Japan, the second daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, visited the Kairakuen garden in Mito, where she attended a cherry blossom tree planting ceremony.
The sapling is from a tree known as “Sakon-no-sakura”, which was in front of the Shishinden hall of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. A previous tree was felled by Typhoon No. 15 in 2019.
