The King and Queen of Malaysia surprised viewers in their country by reading the news on television.

King Abdullah and Queen Azizah appeared on Buletin Utama at Sri Pentas and read news about themselves in a special edition of the program.

The Queen even joked, “This face seems familiar,” when discussing their visit to Media Prima Bhd.

Malaysian citizens enjoyed seeing the royals on television with some calling it humourous and cute.

The video was uploaded to X by @tv3malaysia and has garnered over 506,000 views and 12,000 likes.

The media organisation said in another post: “Respect to [the King and Queen] for being so kind to us Media Prima citizens. All of us Media Prima employees pray that both of you will be granted long-term prosperity.”

Malaysia is an elective monarchy where the monarch serves a five-year term. King Abdullah’s tenure ends on 31 January 2024, and his successor is Johor’s Ibrahim Ismail.
