Queen Margrethe made a delightful appearance at Fredensborg today, presenting an award from one of her longest-standing associations.

Many will be delighted with the lovely sight in Fredensborg today. Queen Margrethe is quietly continuing with engagements despite a number of recent health setbacks, including hospitalisations, which recently led her to regrettably pull out of attending King Harald’s state funeral in Oslo at the last minute.

Under happier circumstances, Queen Margrethe, as Patron of the Ebbe Munck Memorial Foundation, presented the Ebbe Munck Prize 2026 (Ebbe Munck Prisen) to editor-in-chief of the Greenlandic media Sermitsiaq, Masaana Egede, during a ceremony at Fredensborg.

The award recognises Egede’s efforts to support free and credible journalism in both languages, according to the Royal House.

The award also recognises Masaana Egede’s contribution to freedom of expression and informed debate in Greenland in an ever increasingly polarised society.

The Ebbe Muncks Honorary Award was established in 1975 to honour Ebbe Munck’s work as a journalist, resistance fighter, diplomat and courtier. The award is annually presented by Queen Margrethe to a person who has made significant contributions in the same areas.
