King Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has marked the 10th anniversary of his accession.
King Vajiralongkorn’s father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died on 13 October 2016 at the age of 88. He reigned for over 70 years, making him the longest-reigning Thai monarch and the third-longest-reigning monarch of any state. His wife, Queen Sirikit, died in October 2025 at the age of 93.
King Vajiralongkorn immediately succeeded his father upon his death, although he requested a brief delay, and he was formally proclaimed King on 1 December. His coronation, alongside his new wife Suthida, took place in May 2019.
