The Italian President is on a state visit to Monaco, and he and his daughter arrived earlier in the day.

After arriving at Nice Airport, Sergio and Laura Mattarella were taken to the Prince’s Palace in Monaco to be welcomed by Prince Albert and Princess Charlene. During the official welcoming ceremony, the Italian President received military honours. The two national anthems were played, and the official delegations were presented. The Prince and Princess’s two children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, were also present.

At the Monte Carlo Opera, the two couples attended an opera performance by mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli.

After the opera, an official lunch was held in the Throne Room of the Prince’s Palace.

The state visit will continue today. The Italian President will meet staff from the Italian Embassy and representatives of the Italian community in the Principality of Monaco, and he will join Prince Albert for a visit at the Oceanographic Museum.
