A new portrait of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has been unveiled at Gripsholm Castle.
The new portrait was unveiled on 11 September, and it is now part of the State Portrait Collection. The portrait was taken by photographer Thron Ullberg.

The State Portrait Collection is the world’s oldest national portrait gallery. It has been housed at Gripsholm Castle since 1822 and contains 5,300 portraits of Swedish people.
The new portrait was taken in connection with the King’s 80th birthday and shows the King in his working environment.
The Friends of the National Museum donated the portrait to the State Portrait Collection.
