The President of the Norwegian Parliament, Masud Gharahkhani, paid tribute to Princess Astrid, who died yesterday at age 94.
He said, “The Storting has received the news of Princess Astrid’s passing with great sadness. Throughout many decades, Princess Astrid made an outstanding contribution to Norway and the royal family. It lasted until the very end. Her work for the royal family and for Norway was more extensive and longer-lasting than she probably anticipated as a young woman,” says the President of the Storting. Norway has lost a memorable and highly regarded princess, but the royal family has lost a family member. The Storting sends its condolences to the royal family.
At the next ordinary session of Parliament on 30 September, Masud Gharahkhani will deliver a commemorative speech.
