The Hereditary Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein have announced the engagement of their second son, Prince Georg, to Princess Maria-Nives von der Leyen.
Their wedding is expected to take place in the late summer of 2027 in Germany.
Princess Maria-Nives is the youngest daughter of Philipp Prince von der Leyen and Princess Elisabeth von der Leyen. The von der Leyen family is a German former ruling and mediatised family. In Germany, former titles are now part of a person’s last name. Maria-Nives was born on 13 February 2001 in Landsberg am Lech, Germany. She attended the International School Augsburg and completed her secondary education at the Tourism School Klessheim near Salzburg. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of West London. She worked in Berlin for two years but now works for a marketing agency in Vienna.
Prince Georg was born on 20 April 1999 as the third child and second son of the Hereditary Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein. He attended the Ebenholz Primary School in Vaduz and the International School Rheintal in Switzerland. He completed his secondary education at Malvern College in England. He studied at the University of St. Gallen and at ESCP Business School in Turin and Berlin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management in 2023. He currently works in New York in business development in the technology sector. He is currently third in the line of succession.
